ALLEN Decedent: Anna Allen Date listed: Wednesday, June 30, 1892

DEATH OF MRS. P.P. ALLENMrs. Peter P. Allen died at the home of her aunt Mrs. Daniel Weed of this city, June 23, at 5 o'clock a.m., of dropsy. Although dangerously ill for a month, was only confined to her bed two days. She came from her own home in Greendale Township only two weeks ago that she might receive the services of Dr. Magill. She was married Oct. 6th, 1886 to Mr. Allen of Eaton county, at the home of Mr. Weed, with whom she lived. One of the friends that assisted with her bridal robes clothed her in those same satin robes for burial. Her maiden name was Anna Bronk, being the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bronk of Greendale township. She was born at Smith's Crossing, March 2, 1869. She leaves a husband, father, mother, three brothers, John, Leon, and Dannie; four sisters, Mrs. G. Starks of Homer, Mrs. E. Winogle of Lee, Mrs. Harris of Saginaw and Rosa, to mourn her loss; besides three small children, Roy, Janie and Lottie, who are left without a loving mother's care. It had been her desire to unite with the M.E. church but as she did not live convenient to one her desire had never been fulfilled. The funeral services were held at Mr. Weed's conducted by Rev. C.W. Butler of the Homer M. E. church. She was interred in the Homer Cemetery. Kind friends lined and decorated the grave with evergreens and flowers. Besides the relatives already mentioned there were in attendance, her uncle Henry Boyce of Coleman, her aunt Mrs. Brightman of Lee, her sister-in-law Mrs. C.E. Coon of Shepard and C.W. Brown of Grand Ledge. There were also numerous other friends from the different townships. "A precious one from us is gone; A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled.".

BRONK Decedent: Charlotte Bronk Date listed: Thursday, May 22, 1924

MRS. CHARLOTTE BRONK, AGE 76, DIES Mrs. Charlotte Bronk died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rosa Zegelein, of Homer, May 16th, at the age of 76 years. Charlotte Boyce was born in Clifton Twp., Oakland Co., Sept. 15th, 1847. She was the fifth in a family of eight children, five brothers and two sisters. Three of her brothers served the Union during the Civil war. Two younger brothers aged eight and fourteen were lost while on an errand for their mother and it was thought they were taken by gypsies. She is the last of her family. She was married to John Bronk, a native of York State, Nov. 22, 1863,, in Saginaw county. He was also a Union soldier serving in Co. E. 23 Reg., of Michigan Volunteer Infantry and preceeded her in death 24 years ago. They knew all the hardships of pioneer life in Saginaw and Midland Co., coming to Midland on the Belle Seymore when there were few houses here. Mrs. Bronk [was] the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Ada Winnagle of the Upper Peninsula; Mrs. Laura Dice of Homer; Mrs. Bertha Harris of Battle Creek, John Bronk of Texas, Leon Bronk, address unknown; Mrs. Rosa Zegelien of Homer and Dan Bronk of Battle Creek. She also leaves 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. Mrs. Bronk has suffered patiently for the last 8 years, being confined to her bed or chair nearly all that time, and occupied herself knitting fine lace, which so many will now cherish. Her daughter, Mrs. Zegelien has cared for her the last few years.

Mrs. Charlotte Bronk passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rosa Zegelien of Homer last Friday. Deceased was born September 15, 1847, in Clifton township, Oakland county. She was 76 years of age at the time of death. Mrs. Bronk, who has made her home with her daughter for several years, has been a sufferer for eight years. She was united in marriage to John Bronk of New York state on November 22, 1863, who preceded her nearly 24 years ago. The funeral was held from the Homer church Monday, Rev. Charles Hare and Rev. F.N. Miner officiating. Interment was made in the Homer cemetery. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ada Winnagle of the upper peninsula, Mrs. Laura Dice, Mrs. Rosa Zegelien of Homer, Mrs. Bertha Harris of Battle Creek; three sons, John Bronk of Texas, Leon Bronk, whose address is unknown, and Daniel Bronk of Battle Creek.

Obituary: Midland Daily News: May 23, 1995 Sarah Beatrice BROWN, 90, of Midland, died Saturday morning, May 20, 1995, at the MidMichigan Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 18, 1904, in Gladwin, the oldest daughter of the late Guy and Ethel Plummer CROSBY. The former Sarah CROSBY married Sidney CARD on Aug. 2, 1922, in Midland. He predeceased her in 1955. She later married Russel BROWN on Sept. 18, 1956. He predeceased her in 1982. Mrs. BROWN was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Edenville. Surviving is one son, Leigh A. CARD and his wife, Mary, of Sanford; one daughter-in-law, Aletha CARD of Hope; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Dorothy GREANYA and her husband, Harold, of Coalmont, Tenn., and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. BROWN was predeceased by two sons, L. Weldon CARD in 1994, and Robert CARD in 1958; one daughter-in-law; Pauline CARD in 1995; one grandson; five brothers, Cecil, Lenard, Guy, John, and Claude CROSBY; and one sister, Thelma BOOMER. Sarah's family will miss her deeply, as she was the loving stronghold of the Card-Crosby family. For the past nine years she resided at the Statford Pines Nursing Home and will be dearly remembered as a close friend to many. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 1995 fro mthe Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Pastor Donald will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Brown's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Donald Chapin, 88, of Chapel Hill, N.C., died at his home on Thursday, March 27, 1998. He resided at 250 S. Estes Dr., No. 100. Mr. Chapin was born in Detroit on July 12, 1909. Don married Glenna on June 15, 1933. They lived in Midland until moving to Chapel Hill in 1977. Mr. Chapin was employed at The Dow Chemical Co. as a chemical engineer from 1941 until his retirement in 1968. He was a member of the Midland Historical Society as its representative on the Board of Directors for the Midland Center for the Arts and also as it treasurer. He also served on the Midland School Board and the Midland County Board of Commissioners. He was a member of the Midland Kiwanis Club. Surviving besides his wife; are son, David (Margot) Chapin of Houston, Texas; and daughters, Donna Chapin Bergholz of Chapel Hill and Alice (Gene) Crosby of Midland. Other survivors include a brother-in-law, Douglas (Katharine) Lake of Midland; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Obituary: Midland Daily News, December 24, 1973 Leroy D. CROSBY, 83, of 603 Water Street, Edenville, died this morning at Midland Hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1890 in Edenville. He attended school there, went to the west coast as a young man and amrried Myrtle MORGAN in South Bend, Wash., Aug. 7, 1912. The couple returned to Edenville, where Mr. Crosby farmed and worked for the Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1955. He was a member of the Edenville Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; one son, Lloyd of Beaverton; Mrs. Robert VINCENT of Edenville; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1p.m. from the Ware-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Cozadd officiating. Burial will be in the Edenville Cemetery. Obituary: Midland, December 7, 1916 Edenville, District No. 5 Death of Mrs. Louis CROSY Mrs. CROSBY was born in Hocking County, Ohio, and died Nov. 28, 1916. Had she lived until Feb. 2, 1917, she would have been 73 years old. She leaves to mourn her loss four sons and three daughters and a lot of grandchildren and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church at Edenville Nov. 30, interment in the Edenville Cemetery.

Obituary, November 7, 1980: Midland Daily News Myrtle May CROSBY, 86, 604 Water, Edenville, died Thursday in Midland Hospital Center. She was born May 30, 1894, in Spokane, Wash. The former Myrtle May MORGAN married LeRoy D. CROSBY, in 1912. He died in 1973. She had lived in Edenville since 1914 and was a member of Edenville United Methodist Church. She and her husband farmed in the area for many years. She leaves a son, Lloyd CROSBY of Beaverton; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Gladys) VINCENT of Edenville; sisters, Ether OLSON of Seattle, Wash., Estella GRAHAM of Roseburg, Ore., and Margaret GOFF of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 3p.m. in the Ware-Smith Chapel with Rev. William B. Coazad officiating. Burial will be in the Edenville Township Cemetery. DEAN Decedent: Thomas J. Dean Date listed: Tuesday, March 31, 1998

Thomas J. Dean, 87, of Midland died early Monday morning, March 30, 1998, at the Mid Michigan Medical Center. He was born Feb. 4, 1911, in Mount Haley Township, son of the late Anthony and Sarah (Moore) Dean. He was raised and educated in Jam, Mount Haley Township. As a youth Tom had worked at the Jam Store helping his uncle, Jim Dean. Mr. Dean had also helped on the family farm for a number of years and continued to run the farm after his father's death. He married the former Dora Heppner on November 16, 1940, in Napoleon, Ohio. She predeceased him in 1988 after being married for 48 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, employed with the Dow Chemical Co., retiring as a supervisor in 1969 after 34 years of service. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most importantly, he like to spend time with his grandchildren and watch their sporting events. Surviving are his children, Thomas C. Dean, Douglas B. Dean, Carol and Dan Jaster, all of Midland, Ronald J. and Cindy Dean of Newport, N.C., grandchildren Jeff Jaster and his fiancee, Amy Tolfree, Kelly and Glenn Barrie, Kari Jaster, all of Midland; two sisters-in-law, Edna Dean and Mary Finney, both of Midland; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dean was predeceased by five brothers, Patrick, Anthony, William, Robert and Edward Dean. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1998, from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Jack Johnson will officiate, with committal services to take place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Dean's family will recieve friends today at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Christian Vigil service will be today at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Betty E. Duffy, 73, of Midland, passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of the late Chester and Lorraine (Johnson) Moon was born February 21, 1925, in Battle Creek, where she was raised and educated. On July 19, 1952, the former Betty Moon married Donald Duffy of Midland. Betty was active with the Waldo Town and Country Diners and enjoyed making crafts. Surviving in addition to her husband, Don, are her sons, Gordon of New Orleans and Greg Dorn and his wife, Shirley, of Mesquite, Texas; half sister, Phylis Jackson of Lansing; grandsons, Matthew, James and Daniel; and a great-grandson, Daniel. she was predeceased by her step-father, Floyd Mesnerd. Graveside service for Betty will take place at 11 a.m. at the Midland Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements are in care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.

Mr. Erskine married the former Clara Zilska on September 25, 1937 in Midland; Aubrey worked for Dow Chemical Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1975 as an operator. He is survived by his wife Clara; sons, Ernest (Darla) ERSKINE of Sanford; Leonard (Mary) ERSKINE of Sanford; Loren ERSKINE of Sanford; daughters, Evelyn ERSKINE of Sanford; Karen (Gary) TOLMAN of Sanford; sisters, Lilah ZILSKA of Sanford and Florence PARTH of Saginaw.; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Erskine will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 30, 1996 from the Wilson Miller Funeral Home in Midland. Interments will be, in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Helen Evanchek, 51, of Tecumseh died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. She was born in Midland on December 1, 1946, to Stephen and Mary (Virginski) Skalnican. She married John Evanchek on September 28, 1974. He survives her. Helen had been a resident of this area for two and a half years, coming from the Dexter area, where she owned and operated a beauty shop for 20 years. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh and had served on the Altar Society there. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by her mother, Mary Skalnican of Midland; a son, John Evanchek of Tecumseh; a daughter Christina Evanchek of Tecumseh; two brothers, Tony Skalnican of Illinois and Andy (Rene) Skalnican of Midland; and two sisters, Catharine Skalnican of Midland and Gertrude (Eward) Longazel of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her father. Friends may call at the Couture-Handler Funeral Home, 313 W. Pottawatamie St., Techumseh, today from 1-4 p.m. and this evening at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh from 7-9 p.m., where there will be a scripture service at 8 p.m. The Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 1998, at the church, with Fr. Harold E. "Ike" Gerhinger Sr., 70, of Auburn died early Saturday morning, March 28, 1998 at the MidMichigan Center in Midland after an extended illness. Ike was born May 23, 1927, in Williams Township, the son of the late Andrew G. and Maude (Smith) Gehringer. He had resided in this area all his life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Monitor, workd for RWC for 18 years and had worked prior for the James V. Schmidt Builders for 25 years. He was a pit steward at the Tri-City Motor Speedway for more than 30 years, vice president of the Tri-City Computer Club, a life member of AMA and an avid outdoorsman. On May 6, 1970, he married the former Margaret M. Rindhage. She survives him. Also surviving are 12 children, Harold "Ike" (Lynn) Gehringer Jr., Donald (Deb) Gerhinger, Andy (Roxanne) Barrera, John (Joyce) Gerhinger, Richard Barrera, Dorothy Alice (Chris) Gundy, Andrew "Andy" (Linda) Gerhinger, Laura Roth, Nancy (Mark) Lewis, Dawn (Kim) Lederer, Gloria Harris, and Deb Black; 30 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Jack) Greenleaf, Maxine (Len) LeBeau, Gary (Doris) Koepke and Joyce (Lloyd) Zastrow; his former wife, Pauline; and many neices, nephews and friends. Ike was also predeceased by a brother Dale Koepke. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998, from Trinity Lutheran Church in Monitor. The Rev. Norman Aman will officiate with cremation at Sunset Valley Crematory, Bay City. Ike's family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. today from 2-9 p.m. and then at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. James M. Letts Sr., of Midland, died early Sunday morning, March 29, 1998,at the Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland after a brief illness. James was born on December 28, 1922, in Midland, the son of Frank and Liddie (June) Letts. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, bowling and camping. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean (Davis) Letts; his children, James (Donna) Letts; Betty (Robert) Reid, Robert Letts, Larry (Kathy) Letts, and Alice Jean (Steven) White, all of Midland, 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Peter (Daisy) Letts and Cleo Letts of Midland. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Anthony, and one brother, Gale Letts. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are requested by his family to consider the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. The Smith-Miner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

MAPES Decedent: George Marshall Mapes Date listed: June 10, 1995

George Marshall Mapes, 72, of Midland, died Thursday, June 8, 1995, at his residence. He was born May 2, 1923, to the late John Franklin and Veta Jessie (Marshall) Mapes in Midland, where he was raised and educated. In February 1950, George married the former Sylvia Douglass. Retired SSG George Marshall made a career in the infantry. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, the Korean Conflict and was an advisor during the Vietnam era. Before his retirement in 1964, George had received the Silver Star in Korea and many ribbons and medals, including the Bronze Star with a V, the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, the European Theater Ribbon with five battle stars, the Korean Ribbon with five battle stars and the Combat Infantry Badge.
George was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, the American
Legion Berryhill Post No. 165, VFW Post No. 3651 and the Eagles Aeerie No. 2110.
His family meant much to him. He liked to fish and hunt at the cabin with the children. Golfing and card playing were special to him.  Mr. Mapes is survived by his wife, Sylvia; son Joe Mapes and his wife, Cindy, of Stevens Point Wis.; daughters, Carole Danula and her husband, Harry, of Freeland, Julie Hollenbeck and her husband, Brian, of Midland, Jean Mapes of Tempe, Ariz., and Joyce Mapes of Midland; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Murl Mapes, and a sister, Evelyn Joyce. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 1995, from Assumption B. V. M. Catholic Church, 3516 Monroe Road at Jefferson, with the Reverend Henry P. DuRussel as celebrant. Military rites will follow under the auspices of the American Legion Berryhill Post No. 165. Following George's request, his body has been donated to the University of Michigan Department of Anatomy. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.

Herbert D. MERRITT, 78, died Friday afternoon at his home, 4459 Cassie road, following an illness of five weeks.

Born Sept. 3, 1871, in Branch County, Mr. Merritt is survived by his widow, Marie; two daughters, Miss Clara MERRITT of Waukeshaw, Wis., and Mrs. Genevieve CHAMBERS of Detroit; one son, Edwin MERRITT of Traverse City; three brothers, Charles of South Lyon, Michigan, Earl J. and Delman R. MERRITT of Midland and four grandchildren.

Six stepchildren, who also survive him are Mrs. Marie BABCOCK and Wilfrid CYR of Bay City; Lewis CYR of Midland; Charles CYR, of Muskegon; Mrs. Cecile BORDEN, Bridgeport, and Mrs. Rita
Deaulieux [sic, BEAULIEU] of Saginaw.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Bradley Funeral Home and burial will be made in Midland Cemetery; Rev.Harold R. Sloan, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, will officiate.

          Sunday at 1:50 p.m.

          A resident of Midland township for the past eight years, she was born in St. Urban, Quebec, Canada,
          April 29, 1875.

          and Mrs. Anna BEAUVAIS all of Bay City, Mrs. B. M. HANDFIELDS, Montreal, Mrs. Leah
          LANGLOIS of Minneapolis and Mrs. Leonora KAISER of Detroit; three brothers, Joseph GAGNER
          of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ferdinand of Santa Monica, Calif., and Frank, address unknown.  Eight
          grandchildren also survive.

          Tentative funeral arrangements include services at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Brigid's church
           with Rev. Joseph B. Illig officiating.

Elizabeth CARR SCOTT, 76, of Denver died Dec. 11. Mrs. Scott was born in Midland, Mich., on Nov. 14, 1924. She married Charles Scott. She was a secondary school teacher for Detroit Public Schools. She was a member of the Detroit Chapter of AAUW. Survivors include daughter

Services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Lucy SHAW, who died Sunday, March 17, at the Ross-Hall Funeral Home at 1pm and the Edenville Methodist Church at 2pm. Mrs. Lucy SHAW was born in Ontario, Canada, September 11, 1857. Her husband Robert and three sons preceded her in death. Surviving her are eight children, Mae SHAWof Midland, Hilda MITCHELL of Kapesuskima, Ontario, William of Gladwin, O. H. of Flint, BRABYN, Mildred WALL and Hazel TAYLOR of Detroit, and John of Flint. Rev. Karl KEEFER conducted the services with burial in Edenvillle Cemetery.

David D. Shipps, 53, of DeWitt, died Sunday, March 29, 1998.Mr. Shipps was born September 21, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. He worked at John Henry C. as a territorial manager. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the Purple Heart. He attended the Catholic Community of St. Jude, was a member of the Michigan Floral Association and the President's Club at John Henry Co. Surviving are his wife, Kendra; one daughter, Stacy (Steve) Langdon of Holland; one son, Stephen (fiancee, Christine Dalton) of Brighton; mother Corrine (Tom) Shipps Andrews of Gun Lake; one brother, Andrew (Kathy) of California; and one sister, Marnee (Tom) Sinnot of Illinois. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 1, 1998, 10 a.m. at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St. of DeWitt, with the Rev. Bernard L. Reilly, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be held in Robbins Cemetery, Gun Lake, at 2:30 p.m. Friends may call from 2 p.m. today at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, DeWitt, where the fammily will recieve friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and the Scripture Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Aileene R. Vasquez, 62, of Midland, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of the late Charles and Leila (Fair) Conrad was born November 4, 1935 in Saginaw. She married Domingo Vasquez on September 21, 1970, in Saginaw. Aileene worked as a security guard for the Conley Security Co. She was a member of the Midland Loyal Order of Moose No. 1541 and the Midland V.F.W. Post 3651. Surviving is her husband, Domingo Vasquez; her daughter, Vickie France; her son Edward Anger, all of Midland; grandchildren, Tonya, Shane and Kayla; and her sisters, Laverne Austin of Farwell, Ida Day of Saginaw, and Joyce Leyer of Saginaw. She was predeceased by her son Forest Eagle. A memorial luncheon for Aileene will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 1998, at the Midland Loyal Order of Moosse No. 1541, 2100 Bay City Road, Midland. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

John "Bill" Winger, 55, of Wellsburg, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of heart failure. Bill was born on June 11, 1942, the son of John and Eileen (Dunkle) Winger in Ionia. He graduated from Pinckney High School and later attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. He was united in marriage to Joan Nederhoff on August 14, 1964, in the First Congregational Church in Eldora, Iowa. Bill was employed at Quality Products in Eldora for 15 years. He was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, serving as a board member, Meadowbrook Golf Course and he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Wellsburg; parents the Rev. John and Eileen Winger of Midland; his children, David and Michelle of Des Moines, Iowa, Darrell and Kara of Bakersfield, California, Sheila and John Cole of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Greg and Sarah of Wellsburg, Iowa; two brothers, Donald, and Doug and Beverly, all of Midland; and three grandchildren, Cody Cole of Grundy Center, Iowa, Alexander Winger of Bakersfield, California, and Megan Winger of Des Moines, Iowa. He was predeceased in death by an infant sister. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, rural Wellsburg, with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Ronald Fisher will officiate. A memorial fund has been established. The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg is in charge of the arrangements.

WUELFING Decedent: Owen F. Wuelfing Sr. Date listed: Thursday, April 2, 1998

Owen F. Wuelfing Sr., 80, passed away Tuesday morning, Mrch 31, 1998, at Tendercare Nursing Center in Mount Pleasant. The son of the late Joseph and Alice (Burley) Wuelfling was born March 13, 1918, in Pontiac, where he was raised and educated. Owen was a welding instructor for General Motors in Flint. He retired on October 1, 1974. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle, the American Legion in Pontiac and a member of the UAW Local 594 retirees. Owen had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Marion; his sons, Owen F. Wuelfing Jr. of Fr. Myers, Florida, and Roy (Virginia) Burch of Midland; his daughters, Evon Wuelfing of Twelve Mile, Indiana and Joy (Jeff) Reed of Logansport, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Campbell of Drayton Plains. He was predeceased by two sisters, Iris Harrelson and Betty Winchester. The funeral service will take place Friday afternoon, April 3, 1998, 1 p.m. from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Pastor Fred Becknell of Midland Missionary Church will officiate. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorials are available for the American Cancer Society.
