10 May 1883, p. 8, Midland Rep., Mrs. buried Sanford, "Sanford Scintillations, Sanford, May 8, 1883 - Mrs. Suitor, of Carrol Creek, died very suddenly one day last week, and was buried here Friday, but by not getting word to the minister in time they were disappointed in not having a funeral sermon preached that day.  She leaves a husband and one little boy."

At the time of his death he was married (18 Jun 1884) to:  Mary Emma Wright

16 June 1887, Midland Rep.
"Jasper -- The Drowning of Mr. Suiter -- A man by the name of Suiter whose home was at Pleasant Valley was drowned in the Salt River in the town of Greendale on Wednesday the 8th inst.  He was working on the log drive and fell off from a log. There were two men near him, who supposed that he could get out as the water was only 4 or 5 feet in depth.  The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. Leonard a Disciple minister from Greendale at the Stanton school house on Thursday at 4 o'clock p.m.  It was largely attended.  The men working on the drive raised $25, for the widow and children.  He had two children who with their mother are left in destitute circumstances.  All who are able should remember and aid them in their afflication."
Information for John Suiter contributed by Pat Levy.
